Colorful living spaces can be inviting and welcoming to all who enter them. The key is finding the best complimentary and contrasting colors that work well together and fit your style and taste.

For instance, the fireplace above is from a 2012 Utah Valley Parade Home, where they used neutrals and blues and then warm based yellows, oranges and tans for accents.
Finding colors can be tricky, home designers study color wheels like this for years to gain an eye for choosing the perfect ones. At our hearth and home stone locations and design centers we also have well trained individuals that can help you make these decisions.
White is a great color because its colorless, it can go with any color or set of colors and fits most home styles as well, especially contemporary, modern, traditional and craftsman style homes.

Reds. Reds can be a perfect pop of color in a room like the photo above or this space below where they used they arm chair and throw pillow to accent the red in their brick. The complimentary colors for red tones are greens, surprisingly enough, these colors have been paired together every holiday season since most people’s youth. It doesn’t always have to mean Christmas time though, the picture below shows where a green and red throw rug and painting above the mantel make these colors work perfectly.
Sticking within tones is also a good go-to. Red is a warm tone, so other warm tones like warm browns, tans, creams and again– whites also go with red very nicely.

Stone or brick can be a perfect place to tie colors together or add a pop of color to a more docile room.
