Transitional style is becoming more and more popular when it comes to interior design these past few years. This style creates a way to be both in style, timeless and classic all at once. It’s a safe route to take when you’re not quite sure what your style is, you don’t have a style of preference, if you’re blending several styles, or if your just fond of neutral, simple, and classic yet contemporary.

Transitional style is a marriage of traditional and contemporary furniture, colors, textures, finishes, materials and fabrics equating to a classic, timeless design. Furniture lines are simple yet sophisticated, featuring either straight lines or rounded profiles.

Dark brown can add depth to a neutral balance of taupe, light gray, beige, tan, white and vanilla. These colors paired with the pattern and texture found in both stone and brick products work harmoniously and go perfectly with this style when using them on a simple fireplace with an all white paint grade or coordinating wood mantel.

Curves combine with straight lines in a transitional style interior. The look balances both masculine and feminine attributes for a comfortably contemporary design. The scale and proportion of the pieces is ample but not intimidating. Even in this photo below with the floor to ceiling fireplace, it is kept as simple and neutral as possible as to not overwhelm the space and style. A lack of ornamentation and decoration keeps the focus on the simplicity and sophistication of the design.
