White surround mantels are trending right now, especially with the craftsman style homes on the rise. Many times homeowners struggle to find a stone that will work the the small space that they have between the fireplace unit and the mantel. And of course there are smaller stone options that we have seen work beautifully with these spaces, but there is something to consider instead of stone. What about brick?

There was one home from the most recent Utah Valley Parade of Homes that stood out for it’s unique shabby country style and for all of it’s gorgeous interior brick work.  

The two sided fireplace found in the master bedroom of this home was the perfect way to divide the sleeping area from the sitting space while keeping an open feel.

And the fireplace in the center of the living space/great room created the perfect focal point for the area.
