Natural Stone vs Manufactured Stone

Natural Stone & Manufactured Stone are both beautiful options for the interior or exterior of your home! You might be wondering what the difference is? Let us break it down for you starting with Natural Stone.

NATURAL STONE

Natural Stone is exactly what it sounds like! It is real stone that is quarried from the earth. It gives more of an organic look and is popular for its raw aesthetic. While it is known to be heavier, it is cut light enough to be movable. Something great about natural stone is that not one wall of stone that you could find somewhere else will be exactly the same. Natural Stone truly is authentic and unique. Here are some of our favorite examples of natural stone in action that were sourced right from our Hearth & Home showroom in Orem, Utah!

MANUFACTURED STONE

Manufactured Stone is a wonderful option if you still want beautiful stone to bring your home together, but want to stay within a certain price point. Man-made Stone is less expensive than natural stone for a few reasons. The labor isn’t as extensive, and it is cheaper to transport since it is lighter. Manufactured Stone is simply concrete that is dyed to look natural. Pretty cool, right!? One thing to consider with manufactured stone is it may not last quite as long as natural stone, but still is known to hold up for long periods of time. The great thing about manufactured stone is it has more options since it can come in pretty much any color or shape you could think of and is customizable. Here are some great examples!

As you can see, there are pros and cons that come with either stone. When choosing what stone is best for you, keep in mind your budget, desired aesthetic and which key factors are most important to you. Either way, you will be left with a beautiful home to make memories in for a lifetime!
