There are many different ideas for what people call “Traditional Style” homes. The term traditional is easily confused because of all the different sub-categories it encompasses. A basic definition of a traditional style home would be a home style that embraces Colonial, Georgian, Neoclassical, and timeless home styles and elements. The style avoids anything overly trendy and excessively avant-garde. This typically includes, but is not limited to, more timeless colors like white metals, windows, banding and other accents, as well as simple black shingles. It also more commonly uses brick siding over other siding and body textures. The use of dark shutters and keystone elements are also popular with these styles. This umbrella term for some amazing home styles, attempts to revive the authenticity and timelessness of home styles we have been seeing since the 1800’s and by adding new and updated aspects, keeps the “tradition” alive.
As you see from the photos above, there are so many types of traditional. From Traditional Revival, to Colonial style Traditional; from Traditional Ranch style to a Traditional Cottage; from Traditional Gothic to Traditional Georgian. This all-encompassing term includes homes styles we love and want to see more of.
